Being a part of family that’s a huge fan of Mrs. Fields, I tried another cookie recipe recently that was said to have originated by Mrs. Fields, no less. While my chocolate chips has always been a bestseller for as long as I can remember, I took a chance on a variation I found via the All Recipes App on my iPhone. And what do you know, I almost instantly was asked for the pricing. I’m already receiving orders for my Chocolate Oat Chip Walnut Cookies.
My reliable food processor came in handy again as it did its job chopping these walnuts and pulverizing the oats. It’s practically a no sweat, few seconds step. This is the exact thing I also used to powderize my son’s brown rice when he was still an infant. Makes my job in the kitchen a whole lot easier.
I am pretty notorious in modifying recipes that I find and incorporate my own touch. It’s my way of making it “my own version” recipe. But here’s the one I found via All Recipes.
1 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups rolled oats
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper.
Cream butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla until very smooth and fluffy.
In a separate bowl, mix together flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. In a food processor, blend oatmeal until fine. Add to flour mixture.
Stir butter mixture into flour/oatmeal mixture. Blend well.
Add chocolate chips and walnuts. Stir until blended. Roll into golf balls size and bake for 8-10 minutes. You do not want to over bake these.
The first and last photos were taking via Instagram. Yes, I love these iPhone apps! Whilst the other two were taken with a professional camera using natural light (cellular blinds are rolled up). After all these years, I still have a long way to go with food photography, I know.
Enjoy the recipe as my folks and friends did. Note that I modified the ingredients here and there. But they love it enough still that I got orders for these yummy Choco Oat Chip Walnut Cookies. Bake away folks!
