When our dear neighbors, who also happened to be my brother-in-law and sister gave us each a piece of this, we wouldn’t have known we’d swoon for Gigi Gaerlan’s Custaroons. The packaging is classy, sure. But the custaroon itself does not exactly look extraordinary.
That is until our first bite of Gigi’s Custaroons. Our new food fix is nothing short of extraordinary. Yes, despite my first impression of it as an oversized and underbaked macaroon.
Gigi’s Custaroons is a fusion of macaroons and custard. Unlike your usual chewy macaroons with slightly golden brown top, custaroons are made of soft and creamy, melt-in-your-mouth flan topped with a chewy, buttery desiccated coconut crust that’s perfectly baked to a pale light yellow.
