When we went to Vincom Shopping Center in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, we were not planning to do some ice cream fix. But having passed by Fanny Ice Cream after our trip to the Select grocery mart inside the mall, we knew we just had to try. The Fanny name next to the 100% Natural Ice Cream claim, is not very usual for us. And we thought while we were already there, we might as well give it a try. 🙂
And boy, are we glad we did! Fanny Ice Cream serves gelato-style ice cream goodness. It was hard to pick which ones to try first. They have a variety of offerings from their menu. But because the best way to compare them with the ones we have locally is to have it by the scoop, that’s what we had. Rather than the fancier looking ones with all the trimmings.
A scoop of Ca Phe Socola Chocolate Coffee for the hubby – VND 32,000 or Approx. US$1.50 and a scoop of my staple for my first bite of anything ice cream or gelato, Vani Macadamia VND 39,000 or Approx. $1.90
Vani Macadamia (Vanilla Macadamia), Dao Lac (Pistachio) and Ca Phe Socola (Chocolate Coffee)
Three of the variants we ordered from Fanny 100% Natural Ice Cream. We had the rest to go to share with my folks and son who were left at Hotel Thien Xuan where we were checked in. For the record, they all loved Fanny Ice Cream as well. 🙂
The Fanny brand was set up in Vietnam in 1994, by Jean-Marc Bruno, a specialist graduated from Le Nôtre Paris school where is famous not only in France but throughout the world for training of experts for ice cream and cakes industry. Fanny ice cream is produced by traditional French methods, with 100 % natural ingredient sources chosen carefully.
It was easy to taste that there was something special about this ice cream. Its smoothness is ultra refreshing and I have truly enjoyed every bite. It can sure compete with my favorite Angelati Italia Gelato, which I’m not still exists until now. Our ice cream fix was taken cared of in Fanny Ice Cream parlor inside Vincom Center. It was a great stop after some pasalubong shopping of basketball coach gifts, some good ol Beryl chocolates and some food stuff for our Cambodia land trip the day after. 🙂
