I do not know about you but I remember being warned by one of our nannies when we were kids about a lot of Filipino superstitions, like not propping our elbows on the dining table as this invites bad luck. To not change places while eating as this will mean you will end up having a lot of spouses in your lifetime. And then there’s this folklore that warns of singing while cooking.
Apparently, according to the belief, this will have the singing cook end up marrying a widower or will be a widower early in life. Such silly superstitions if you come to think of it. But it can make one curious where it originated. A lot of beliefs in our country come from different cultures since we have been colonized but a lot of different races. Remember those singing cooks and waiters form back then? I wonder what they have to say about this. Just a silly thought from one cook to the other. 🙂
