There is no denying it, social media has a huge influence in people’s lives today. In some cases, social media was even responsible for life changing experiences. One example of this is ordinary people suddenly rising to celebrity status because of a post or video that has gone viral. There are also bloggers who rose to the spotlight as lifestyle influencers. How exactly did it happen? I’d say it’s a combination of hard work and luck, but that’s just me. Here is a look at some of the commonalities we observed in bloggers turned influencers.
Content Quality. Vocabulary.com defines a blogger as someone who regularly writes for an online journal or website. It also defines an influencer as one who has the power to affect persons or events. Although we started mytummyisfull.com as something just for fun, we were always serious about our content quality. One strategy that can help your transition from a simple blogger to a lifestyle influencer is to have quality content that will keep your readers engaged. This means coming up with posts that are relevant, informative and entertaining.
Platform Variety. Most lifestyle influencers use a variety of platforms for their posts, usually a combination of blog/vlog post and instagram post. While these can be a powerful combination, it is noteworthy to observe that there is a rising interest in video content. If you want to move from blogger to an influencer then adding engaging videos in your portfolio is something to consider.
Passion and expertise. Reputation is a key factor in influencing people via social media. This is why bloggers who share their experience and expertise on topics that they are passionate about are more effective in influencing their readers. For instance, wanderlust people thrive in travel blogs while techs and geeks are go to guys for gadget and gaming reviews. But don’t worry if you are not an expert on your chosen niche. Some successful influencers started by posting about things that they are passionate about. Blogging eventually paved the way for their expertise. In our case, our expertise in cooking and cuisine is still work in progress. But we are really happy to take you with us in our journey.
Authenticity. Nowadays people are more interested in real people and real events. Some of the most popular influencers we see today are those who let their audiences into their lives. This is because most people can easily relate to real events in everyday life. Unboxing and prank videos that show genuine reactions of people are also quite popular in social media platforms. It is this desire for authenticity that drives online shoppers to live stream shopping with influencers as hosts or brand ambassadors.
When blogging was first introduced it was merely a tool for ordinary folks to post online. That is exactly how we started our blog, a hobby and nothing else. But now that it has evolved to a powerful marketing tool, even celebrities and popular personalities also have blogs and vlogs that they maintain.
We may not be as influential as celebrity bloggers but we are proud at how much our blog has evolved. Lets just say, we are in the transition process. The blogging/influencer-verse is still growing and we plan to grow with it. There is now such a thing as influencer marketing where bloggers and lifestyle influencers have bigger roles to play in the world of e-commerce. The next few years is indeed going to be exciting for all.
