Eri Curry, the ultimate Japanese comfort food formally opened on September 10, 2014. I was personally plenty curious since Japanese food is something that’s always topped my list when it comes to food. While everything curry is the hubby’s favorite. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be having first dibs of this newly opened Japanese Restaurant.
Eri Curry Japanese Curry Restaurant had its grand launch at the SM Memallmall Atrium
Whetting the guests’ appetites were Shen of ShensAddiction.com and another pretty lady representing Eri Curry telling us what to expect of Eri Curry. Apparently, Japanese Curry originated from India. It was introduced by the British nationals who discovered it from the Indians in the 19th century. The Japanese then reinvented the curry sauce to suit their taste. As opposed to the Indian’s curry, the Japanese version is milder and thicker sauce.

Eri Curry Maki Roll
We had first dibs to Eri Curry’s Maki roll as it was first introduced during the launch. The flavorful fusion of cripy katsu, cucumber drizzled with that sweet sauce with Japanese Mayo made such delicious introduction of what Eri Curry is made of, I couldn’t wait for the main entre to come forth.
I ordered the Katsu Curry (Spicy). The generous serving of the sauce was definitely love. That’s prolly the Pinoy in me talking. There’s also something about the curry sauce that’s undeniably distinct that’s having me crave for it even as I type away. It was said to be concocted by no other than pretty Chef Erica. I wasn’t too adventurous to try the “Fiery” level of spiciness, but would definitely love to sometime.
Eri Curry gave an interesting twist to how their diners experience Japanese Curry. Diners get to customize their meals through these steps:
1. Choose Your Curry Plate
Choose from an array of curry plate with your favorite protein or vegetables. Katsu Curry plate is the bestseller so far, followed by Thin Sliced Beef, Crunchy Squid, Shrimp and Mushroom curry plates.
2. Choose Your Rice Portion
Pinoys undoubtedly love rice. Eri Curry serve the best Japanese rice. Choose from 200, 300 or for more serious appetite, 400 grams rice portion.
3. Choose Your Spice Level
Choose from Just Right (mild, almost no hint of spice), Spicy (a sure kick of heat) or go all the way to Level 3, Fiery!
4. Add Toppings
Make it your own! Top your curry plate with more toppings. Choose from protein toppings like crispy chicken, fried squid or thin sliced pork or vegetables like eggplant, asparagus and tomatoes.
Thin Sliced Beef Curry (Spicy)
The hubby loved his Thin Sliced Beef Curry (Spicy) plate. One of the servers said that this dish goes well with the red pickled radish (pictured on the upper left side).
I thoroughly loved Eri Curry’s one of a kind red iced tea. Everyone’s impression of it is its non-coherence to its name. But believe me when I tell you that it wouldn’t matter a thing when you start sipping away. I haven’t tried a better tasting iced tea, red or not. Don’t just take my word for it, try it for yourself. You can thank me later. I loved it so much that I just had to ask what those dark particles swimming in my glass are. They are from the freshly brewed leaves of the tea that was used. Now that’s as fresh as an iced tea can get! 🙂
Eri Curry Japanese Curry seats 60 people. Make sure to come with friends and loved ones to get your fill of their sumptuous Japanese Curry dishes.
