It was around this time of the year in 2001 when I first inquired from Great Eastern Hotel of their wedding packages. We had only but four months away from our big day and I was not too keen on the preparations yet. Because the hotel was one of the accounts that I was handling while I was working in the bank, it was kind of a no-brainer for me.
Since I did not exactly have the luxury of time to scout for venues, which at that time were not all that plenty yet, it was easy for us to arrive at the decision to hold our wedding ceremony and reception at Great Eastern Hotel, which is also known as Aberdeen Court in Quezon City.
My then fiance, now hubby and I chose Great Eastern Hotel’s Festival Wedding Package which included an overnight stay. We also chose what was then the largest function room – Ruby Suite, which can hold 300 people. Other packages include bridal car and other add ons, which we did not need. Since I was staying in the hotel the night before with my mom and sister.
Too bad, I was not yet a foodie back then. If I were, I would have made sure my photographers took shots of everything in our menu package. Here’s what we had in our menu.
- Assorted Cold Cuts
- Birds Nest Soup in Cream Corn Soup
- Lapu-lapu Fillet in Pickle Sauce
- Fried Chicken Imperial
- Beef in Choice Vegetable Saute
- Mixed Meats Chow Mien
- Aberdeen Fried Rice
- Sesame Balls
- Passion Fruit Compote
Just like other wedding caterers would often offer their clients, we also got to have a taste test dinner, a month or a few weeks before our wedding. My better half and I were able to get a taste of what the kitchen of Great Eastern Hotel are serving our guests. We were not the least disappointed. Eleven years since, I’m not exactly sure if the hotel is still at par. Considering the vast choices of wedding venues we now have. But now with our 11th wedding anniversary fast approaching, we hope to go visit and dine and maybe have an overnight stay at Great Eastern Hotel, with our 7 year old son in tow. Will make sure to order what we had in our wedding menu and maybe have this post updated with pictures. 🙂
