To date, SumoSam already has 18 stores nationwide. How they grew so fast in such short a time should be no surprise since a lot of foodies, me included, are discovering the indulgence of sumptuous gastronomical SumoSam dining experience.
Tonkatsu Kurobuta
SumoSam recently launched new products which was led by this ever so succulent Tonkatsu Kurobuta. While there are a handful of Japanese restaurants offering tonkatsu, SumoSam makes use of the Kurobuta pork, a highly prized pork in Japan, which comes from this specific Black Berkshire pig. Every bite is every bit as tasteful. I can have this for a whole week and I won’t complain. The Japanese coleslaw complements this tonkatsu dish perfectly.
Chefs working it as they strut their stuff and prepare for us some delectable seafood pizzas that are to die for! And speaking of pizzas, here are the ones I got to have a taste of.
SumoSam Kani and Cheese Pizza
Shrimp Enoki
When they said that SumoSam’s pizzas are the best Japanese pizzas you will ever taste, they were not kidding. These crisp to perfection thin crust pizzas are loaded with everything you would wish for a seafood pizza. I heard ravings about the Chicken Teriyaki and Mango variant too from the other table. I bet it was so good that it ran out! I will surely try that one out on my next SumoSam adventure.
Zaru Cha Soba
One of the 4 cold Soba dishes that SumoSam offers is the one pictured above – Zaru Cha Soba. The other three are Ten Zaru Cha Soba, Kani Soba Salad and Zaru Soba. The Japanese dining experience can’t be satisfied without trying one of these. Now if I had custom pins, I’d tag this as my favorite.
To top the gastronomical filling lunch, we were served with SumoSam Chocolate Ganache Cake. Now, who can go wrong with a Chocolate Ganache, right? But the chocolate dipped citrus fruit, sherbet and the cherry bits in the midst of the oozing chocolate definitely made this SumoSam dessert extra special.
