For most Filipinos a meal is not complete without rice. This is perhaps the reason why the “unli-rice” promo offered by some restaurants in 2010 became a big hit. Inspired by the fast growth of a restaurant offering grilled chicken with unlimited servings of rice, Jepoy and Kiss thought of starting a business with the same concept. But instead of chicken, they planned to serve their own especially marinated Filipino-style liempo. Jepoy even coined the name “Boybabs”, from the word “Baboy”, for the restaurant.
Starting Boybabs Firebrick Grill sounded like a good idea at that time, but it did not materialize because Jepoy and Kiss had other priorities. But just like a special dish, Jepoy and Kiss had to wait for their boybabs concept to be cooked just right and served at the right time. In 2015 they partnered with Jerome and Jermalyn and opened the BURP Flame Grilled Burger in Angeles, Pampanga. It was the start of their journey in the food industry. After a year, they were ready to give life to their original concept which is Boybabs. Thus the opening of Boybabs Firebrick Grill in Angono, Rizal in March 2016. Instead of a full blown restaurant they chose to operate as a “to go store” or take out counters where customers can simply buy their food and dine someplace else.
Here they introduced the Boneless Lechon Belly or marinated pork belly roasted in a pugon before being grilled to perfection. Also in their menu is the Lechon Sisig, this dish was also pugon roasted first before being cooked as sisig in the usual manner. There is also the Pork Barbecue, and the Chicken Kebab, or grilled chicken. The menu wouldn’t be complete without the Pork Liempo which was in their original plan back in 2010. The Pork Liempo is pugon roasted first to achieve the desired crispiness before being grilled with a special basting sauce. Jepoy’s brother, Chef Mark, helps them formulate recipes for their great tasting dishes.
After eight months, Boybabs Firebrick Grill got into the Food Park trend and continued to attract more customers. Last November 12, they opened their second branch at the Food dEASTrict Cainta. This time they added more rice meals in their menu. This include Pork Barba Rice Php120, or Pork Barbecue with rice, Medi Chicken Rice P120, a Mediterranean inspired dish concocted by Chef Mark topped with a special yogurt sauce. The Lechon Sisig Rice P110 is a classic sisig dish that has been pugon roasted first. They also have the Grilled Boybabs Slab Rice P130, a slab of specially marinated pork which is perfectly grilled, Grilled Beef Patties Rice P130, which is like a grilled version of a Salisbury Steak, and the Roasted Boybabs Belly Php165, a pugon roasted pork belly with a special marinade.

Boybabs Firebrick Grill may be a new player in the industry but their recipe for grilled take out is a great alternative to the usual grilled food in the market today. The unique flavors of Boybabs’ grilled dishes enables them to compete with the big players in the industry. And with the help of facebook paid advertisements and local marketing, Boybabs continuously makes its presence felt in the market today.
